The Bulletin of the Polish Academy of Sciences: Technical Sciences

We are pleased to announce the opening of two Special Sections in The Bulletin of the Polish Academy of Sciences: Technical Sciences (IF - 1.385), in which you can publish materials presented at our conference APMME 2021 .

Deadline for participation with the possibility of publication The Bulletin of the Polish Academy of Sciences: Technical Sciences is January 31, 2021 (regardless of the publication in the Acta Physica Polonica A journal).

Full-text articles written in accordance with instructions for authors must be submitted by February 12, 2021 at conf@imipkm.pcz.pl .

After approval of the submitted papers by the Scientific Committee of the APMME 2021 Conference, information about the next stage will be sent to the authors.

It is possible to send papers to Special Sections independent of the Conference, but in this case the organizers do not cover the publication fee.

Scope of Special Sections:

Special Section on
Vibrations, mechanical waves and propagation of heat in physical systems

Theme.In modern mechanical engineering, vibrations play an extremely important role. The lack of properly conducted analysis of vibrations or dynamic stability, may even with small variable loads lead to irreversible damage. The use of modern solutions such as: implementation of piezoceramic elements, appropriately selected damping, specially designed heads in loaded slender systems or heat treatment resulting in enhancement of internal structure of the material allows one to design modern and durable structures.
Vibrations of molecules propagating in an elastic medium create mechanical waves. The analysis of this phenomenon in continuous media allows one to produce modern structures such as phonic crystals or metamaterials, which, thanks to their unique properties (the presence of a phononic band gap) leads to the design of devices that control the way of energy transfer in an elastic media. This gives the possibility of manufacturing devices such as acoustic diodes, waveguides, selective filters, mechanical wave mirrors and many others.
This Special Section of BPAST will be devoted mainly to the selected papers presented at the International Conference “Applications of Physics in Mechanical and Materials Engineering APMME 2021” organized on-line in 2021 by Częstochowa University of Technology. Topics of interest include (but are not limited to) the following topics:

• Acoustic wave propagation
• Phononic crystals and metamaterials
• Dynamic stability and vibration
• Heat transfer control
• Numerical modeling of thermal and flow phenomena in physical processes
• Modeling of thermomechanical phenomena in the solid state

Manuscript preparation and submission
All manuscripts must be submitted through the Editorial System (ES) webpage at: (http://www.editorialsystem.com/bpasts). Submission must be clearly marked “Special Session on Vibrations, mechanical waves and propagation of heat in physical systems” in the ES (when choosing paper type, instead of Regular choose “Special issues/section paper”) and on the cover page. Check journal style carefully and use the template provided in the “Instructions for Authors” section on the ES platform (https://www.editorialsystem.com/bpasts/journal/for_authors/).
We encourage submissions that are based upon papers published at related conferences and workshop proceedings. They may be submitted for consideration to BPASTS Special Section provided that:
(1) the authors cite their earlier conference paper on which this new work is based,
(2) the papers are not identical (similarity index must be below 50%),
(3) the journal publication includes clearly shown novel elements (e.g., more comprehensive experiments),
(4) please, if possible, cite in the list of references at least one paper published in the BPASTS if relevant to your research.

Modern materials – obtaining and characterization (alloys, polymers)

Theme.The development of the world economy is closely related to modern materials, the properties of which are constantly being improved. The reason is that the products obtained must meet strict requirements and meet a number of standards. Constant changes in the production processes of these materials may make it possible to regulate their properties during the production process itself. In addition, these properties can be improved as a result of properly performed refinement. The most commonly used materials today are various types of alloys, polymers and composites. These materials include amorphous alloys, special-purpose polymers and geopolymers.
This Special Section of BPAST will be devoted mainly to the selected papers presented in the special session “Modern materials – obtaining and characterization (alloys, polymers)” at the International Conference “Applications of Physics in Mechanical and Materials Engineering APMME 2021” organized on-line in 2021 by Częstochowa University of Technology. Topics of interest include (but are not limited to) the following topics:

• New amorphous alloys
• Polymer and geopolymer materials
• Obtaining and characterization new functional materials
• Thermal treatment of modern functional materials

Dear Participants,

On behalf of the Scientific and Organizing Committee, I would like to welcome you to the next scientific conference “Applications of Physics in Mechanical and Materials Engineering” organized by the Department of Mechanics and Machine Design Fundamentals at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science of the Czestochowa University of Technology.

I warmly welcome the Rector of the Czestochowa University of Technology, prof. Norbert Sczygiol, who took honorary patronage of our conference. Another person I would like to warmly welcome is our main sponsor, the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science, prof. Małgorzata Klimek. I welcome all members of the Scientific Committee of the conference, especially our guests from abroad and the Chairman of the Materials Engineering Section, prof. Marcin Nabiałek. I welcome all the participants of the Conference. I would also like to welcome people without whom the conference could not take place, members of the Organizing Committee with the Chairman – dr. Sebastian Garus and the Secretary of the Conference – Mr. Paweł Kwiatoń.

This year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, we are meeting in a virtual way. The discussions on the presented papers will also take place in such a way. I hope that our next meeting will take place in the traditional way. We will then be able to renew friendship and experience the friendly atmosphere of our Conference.

As the Chairman of the Scientific Committee, I would like to share with you some reflections that emerged from the first edition of APMME Conference. First, I would like to congratulate you on the high level of work presented at APMME 2020. As a result, 64 post-conference papers were published in the journal Acta Physica Polonica A (IF 0.579). Secondly, taking into account the further improvement of the submitted papers, this year we have prepared the possibility of publication in two other journals: Archives of Metallurgy and Materials (IF 0.586) and Bulletin of the Polish Academy of Sciences: Technical Science (IF 1.385).

I am deeply convinced that the level of this year’s manuscripts will be as high as a year ago and that all presented papers will be published in one of the mentioned journals. I sincerely wish this to each of the Participants.

Hello to all the participants of the APMME 2021 conference. Despite many restrictions, over 100 scientists will take part in this year's conference.

The Scientific Committee of the Conference started cooperation with three journals Acta Physica Polonica A (40 points), Archives of Metallurgy and Materials (40 points) and Bulletin of the Polish Academy of Sciences: Technical Sciences (100 points), in which, after the review process, the accepted papers will be published in 2021. Each journal has an Impact Factor and is a recognized periodical. A special issue was opened especially for participants of the Material Engineering section of the Bulletin of the Polish Academy of Sciences: Technical Sciences. Modern materials - obtaining and characterization (alloys, polymers). The possibility of publishing the results of your scientific research in such respected journals proves the great prestige of our Conference and its scientific level.
